This project focuses on the use of calligraphy to create a background for images and prints. Each page has a different passage of scripture on it that references the colorful quote in the middle. The quotes with floral wreaths in the middle were created using a linoleum block and were hand printed onto the page. The different colors of ink were painted onto the block instead of doing a reductive cut in order to give more flow and dimension. The paper that the print is on was stained with coffee in order to appear as parchment that was found decades ago. All of the inspiration for this project was pulled from illuminated manuscripts and my personal beliefs.
